Experience a Jungle Of Ketambe

You don’t need to be an experienced hiker or extremely fit to enjoy the Ketambe jungle trek. Our trekking programs are suitable for beginners as well as experienced travelers.

A reasonable level of fitness is recommended because the trek takes place in the rainforest, where trails can be uneven, muddy, slippery, and occasionally steep. You should be comfortable walking for several hours with regular breaks.

Don’t worry about keeping up with a fast pace. Our experienced local guides will adjust the pace to your fitness level and make sure you have enough time to rest, enjoy the scenery, and experience the rainforest.

On average, you walk about 4 to 6 hours per day. One or two days can be as less as 3hrs and one or two days can be as long as 7hrs.

Ketambe is a remote rainforest destination, so facilities in the jungle are simple and limited. During the trek, there are no regular electricity or hot shower facilities available at the jungle campsite.

We recommend bringing a fully charged phone, camera, and power bank before starting the trek. For longer trips, an additional power bank is highly recommended.

At the jungle campsite, you can enjoy a refreshing natural experience and wash yourself using clean water from the surrounding area. Hot showers are generally not available in the jungle.

There are ATMs available in Kutacane, but there are currently no ATMs in Ketambe itself. We recommend withdrawing enough Indonesian Rupiah (IDR) in Kutacane before continuing your journey to Ketambe.

Internet access in Ketambe can be limited, especially once you enter the rainforest. Mobile phone signals may be weak or unavailable in some areas, and there is no reliable internet connection at the jungle campsite.

We recommend downloading important information, maps, tickets, and travel documents before starting your trek. It is also a good idea to let your family or friends know that you may be offline during the trek.
